The Open Data API files of the Statistical Office of the SR are no longer updated after 15 September 2026; only sp0301ms carries a later date, 21 September. DATAcube ended that day and the data are only in STATdata. As of 9 October 2026 STATdata holds all 17 historical construction cubes and none of the 18 construction-price cubes, which are only in the Historical Data Files repository. ŠÚ SR states migration from June 2027.

Announcement of the Statistical Office of the SR of 15 September 2026: DATAcube ended, cube codes stay

The Statistical Office of the SR announced on 15 September 2026 that the migration of the public database DATAcube to the STATdata database is complete and that afterwards all statistical data are available exclusively through STATdata. Cube codes remain the same as in DATAcube, and links in information reports, press releases and publications issued up to 15 September 2026 are redirected to STATdata automatically (ŠÚ SR announcement).

The STATdata home page states that it has been the sole public database since 16 September 2026 and that the historical cubes become part of it from June 2027. The Economy and Finance branch had 457 cubes on 7 October 2026 and already 462 on 9 October 2026 (sum by sections; 444 unique codes): five cubes were added in the Historical data subsection of the section Trade and Catering Services. The sections Construction production and turnover (18 cubes), Housing construction (9), Price indices of construction works and materials (6) and Prices of dwellings (2) did not change between these days (ŠÚ SR; STATdata, status as of 9. 10. 2026). Two dates describe one transition: 15 September is the last day of DATAcube, 16 September the first day on which STATdata is the only one.

Open Data API: existing files are not updated after 15 September 2026

The Open Data API at data.statistics.sk/api remains active, but existing files are no longer updated after 15 September 2026. The announcement gives two alternative STATdata API endpoints: the whole file is returned by /opendata/cube/dataset/download-url by cube code, language and format, a filtered selection by /opendata/cube/dataset/{dataCubePublicId}/rows/{rows}/columns/{columns}/context/{context}. The announcement does not name the STATdata API host.

The overview of the old API gives an update date for every file. Of 678 files only one has a date after 15 September 2026, sp0301ms of 21 September (ŠÚ SR; Open Data API, file overview, 7. and 9. 10. 2026). The file ob1802ms (trade turnover) shows 4 September in the old API and 6 October 2026 in STATdata with a period to 31 August (ŠÚ SR; STATdata, recently updated). The old file will not receive August.

On 7 October 2026 the public API of the STATdata portal answered at statdata.statistics.sk under the path /public/api/dc/; for the cube st0001ms the address /opendata/cube/dataset/st0001ms/download?lang=EN&type=CSV returned a zip archive with a CSV. This is an observation, not a documented endpoint.

  • Endpoints: one of the two STATdata API endpoints instead of the address data.statistics.sk/api.
  • Cube codes: they stay, so code lists in scripts and spreadsheets do not need rewriting.
  • Links: the announcement states redirection only for ŠÚ SR products issued up to 15 September 2026; it does not mention users‘ own saved links to DATAcube.

From the first release calendar of ŠÚ SR the old file will not receive these releases on construction and housing prices; the calendar is as of 9 October 2026 and the date 13. 10. 2026 is in the past by 15 October.

Date Release (title in the calendar) Section in STATdata
13. 10. 2026 Construction production in August 2026 Construction production and turnover (18 cubes)
11. 11. 2026 Construction production in September 2026 Construction production and turnover (18 cubes)
30. 11. 2026 House price indices in the 3rd quarter of 2026 Prices of dwellings (2 cubes)
2. 12. 2026 Housing construction in the 3rd quarter of 2026 Housing construction (9 cubes)
8. 12. 2026 Construction production in October 2026 Construction production and turnover (18 cubes)

Historical Data Files as of 9 October 2026: 17 construction cubes also in STATdata, 18 price cubes only in files

The list of the Historical Data Files repository contains, as of 9 October 2026 and by own count, 550 historical cubes from DATAcube, of which 17 are on construction and 18 on prices of construction works and materials. These are cubes whose updating ended because of changes in code lists, classifications, methodology or base year; they can be downloaded in CSV and XLSX (ŠÚ SR; Historical Data Files).

The public API of the STATdata portal answered for 108 of these 550 codes on 7 October 2026 and for 122 on 9 October 2026 (address /public/api/dc/public/{code}/info), on both days including all 17 construction cubes; the section Historical data within Construction has the same set of 17 codes as the repository, for example st0001ms and st3001rr. None of the 18 price cubes, for example sp2061qs and sp1806qs, is in STATdata as of 9 October 2026. The rise of 14 codes in two days, from 108 to 122, shows that historical cubes are added to STATdata gradually, also before June 2027. A check of st0001ms for January 2023 (7 October 2026) agrees within rounding: the repository gives 388,43 million EUR, STATdata 388,4 million EUR (components 260,2 + 91,8 + 36,5), in a different table layout.

As of 9 October 2026 the price series are only in files. Cubes on prices of construction works outside the historical ones are in the section Price indices of construction works and materials with six cubes: sp1012qs has the title of sp2061qs (Price indices of construction works by type of construction, quarterly), but without the stated base year 2015=100, and data to the second quarter of 2026. The announcement of 15 September 2026 states that the migration of historical cubes concentrated mainly on current data.

House price indices on 30 November and the property price section in STATdata

The house price indices for the third quarter of 2026 are due on 30 November and in STATdata belong to the section Prices of dwellings with two cubes, sp1002qs and sp3801qr; both carry prices of dwellings in their names. Eurostat defines the harmonised HPI as prices of dwellings purchased by households (Eurostat; HPI metadata). In the 462-cube Economy and Finance branch (9 October 2026) no section names the price or rent of non-residential property.

Difference in dates. The announcement of ŠÚ SR gives 15 September 2026 as the day DATAcube ended and the STATdata banner gives 16 September 2026 as the first day on which STATdata is the sole public database. The sources do not exclude each other and each date has its own source: the first describes the end of the old system, the second the start of the new one.

The date of the June migration of historical cubes and the fate of the price series are not known as of 9 October 2026

The Statistical Office of the SR states that historical cubes migrate to STATdata from June 2027, but neither the announcement of 15 September 2026, nor the STATdata home page, nor the Historical Data Files page gives, as of 9 October 2026, a specific day or a list of the cubes to be moved. Open remains whether the 18 price cubes, for example sp2061qs and sp1806qs, will keep their codes in STATdata.

Also open is whether the data of the 17 construction cubes in STATdata fully match the files in Historical Data Files: a single cube, st0001ms, was compared, for January 2023.
